Kells Tech Hub Members on a Business Opportunity Mission to Berlin

Two of our Kells Tech Hub members, Eugene Cahill 5D Design and John McGowan Unicorn Magic, will join a number of other recruited SMEs from the Newry Mourne Down/Louth/Meath transfrontier region to participate on a business opportunity mission to Berlin.

During this trip our two Kells Tech members will have the opportunity to:

  • investigate business collaboration opportunities in Germany afforded by new technology.
  • establish business to business links and business to education/research links with German joint venture partners.
  • assess new management methods and best practices
  • be exposed to the required capabilities which access to the German market demands.

The Vision Works, a Berlin-based team of business support specialists has been appointed to act as the ‘concierge’ for the Programme in the German capital, arranging one-to-one meetings and ensuring that the group of 21 owner/managers and support staff from the east transfrontier region will have a well organised, productive and hassle-free experience when in Berlin.

They will also meet with the Irish Ambassador to Germany, Dr. Nicholas O’Brien who has served in this role since August 2019.

John McGowan is a new business start up at Kells Tech Hub in the Kells Enterprise Centre with Automagical Apps. Automagical Apps are a portfolio of Google Add-ons created by John and Deanna McGowan as part of Unicorn Magic. They are math teachers who have taught around the world. John is a certified Google Education Trainer and the creator of g(Math), which had over 13 million worldwide users before it retired in January 2018. A math teacher of over 15 years, he loved to adapt the fail-forward mentality and push the bounds of technology integration in the math classroom. Automagical apps are the portfolio of other Add-ons that John developed and launched at the same time as g(Math) to help teacher workflow and amplify effectiveness.  John said of his trip:

I am looking to scale up my business and this is a huge opportunity for me to do so.
