Meath Enterprise Week 2017 Slane Whiskey Tour

The final event of Meath Enterprise Week 2017 was a tour of the recently completed Slane Whiskey Distillery just outside the village of Slane in Co. Meath.

Meath Enterprise Week is an annual event where enterprise events, workshops and seminars are held around the county to help promote enterprise. The themes of this year’s week were Innovation, Collaboration and Entrepreneurship and these were incorporated into all events.

The tour of Slane Whiskey Distillery was a very fitting end to a fantastic week as it is a great example of Innovation, Collaboration and Entrepreneurship in numerous ways and we were delighted to get the opportunity to visit.

The day in question was a beautiful winters day which gave a fabulous backdrop to the Distillery. Housed in what was originally the stables for Slane Castle the distillery is due to begin production in January 2018. Our tour guide- Connor was extremely knowledgeable on every aspect of the Whiskey industry and as we toured the distillery we learnt a huge amount on the history of the Irish Whiskey trade, the production of Whiskey and to complete the tour we got to sample some of the Slane Whiskey, which we all enjoyed

Slane Whiskey is a venture between the Cunningham Family of Slane Castle and the Brown Family of Kentucky and is a great example of collaboration between two parties to create something very special which they undoubtedly have done.We would like to thank Slane Whiskey for the tour and wish them the best of luck for the new year when they begin production in Slane.
